I’m Shayn De Mur – part UX Writer/Designer, part Content Strategist, and part Project Manager (some people may want to characterize this as a Product Manager. Just roll with it…) I specialize in full-stack business resilience. From customer-centricity to business continuity , I’ve got your back!
Really, I’m just trying to thwart another Colonial Pipeline type of disaster.
I’m told that for a geek I have an interesting background. I was once a series 7 licensed financial advisor with a major wire house and dabbled in the hedge fund and investor relations arenas. I moved into marketing which somehow led me to technology, mostly as a technical project manager who is no stranger to data analytics, cloud, networking, security and compliance. This intermixing of domains has provided me the skills to communicate technical terms in an easy to understand manner for nontechnical people. While technology is my language I do speak in plain text.
One of my idiosyncrasies is that I have a tendency to integrate product marketing into the tech space. It’s due to my left brain right brain leaning. That may sound offensive to some but for me it feels like a slice of heaven – only a slice, because, I believe in sustainability.
UX design is a key element in business continuity, as the user experience has a direct impact on retention (Strategic Data Consulting (2009). “Special Report: UX Business Impacts and ROI; 735 companies surveyed”.). There is a tendency to forget that Disaster Recovery is more heavy on the human element in the process than the systems element. People are not only the weakest link in the security chain but also the greatest asset and beneficiary of a resilient organization. It is my mission to put the UX in business continuity and disaster recovery to launch a resilient strategy.
